12 Weeks of Christmas Ornaments Challenge 2021 Week 5: The Bethlehem Star Pattern

Wow, it's already Week #5!

How have your ornaments been coming along?

(If you are behind, don't worry. This is meant to be fun... do them when you can!)

For Week 5, I'm excited to bring one of our past CLUB patterns out of the vault!

This week, we're doing the Bethlehem Star Pattern.

Just like many of our Club Patterns, we only did this pattern ONCE (way back in December of 2018). It has not usually been available outside the Club.

I couldn't wait to try it out with my challenge fabrics, and see what all of you do with it as well.

IMPORTANT! If you were an Ornament Girl during December 2018, DO NOT BUY THIS. You have automatic access! Look in your Pattern Library, under the 'Classic Patterns' tab. (You may need to log out, and then log back in again.)

BUT! If you DON'T yet own this pattern, now's your chance to own this previously club-only pattern! You can grab it HERE for a very special price for the next 3 days!

Your turn!

Your challenge is.... to make your own Bethlehem Star Ornament using your 3 chosen fabrics.... you can arrange your fabrics like I have above, or better yet, mix it up!

Remember, if you don't know how to make the Bethlehem Star Pattern, you can get the pattern & video combo, right HERE.

Then, show me what you've got by posting it on Instagram using the hashtag #OrnamentGirlsChallenge so we can all see it!

(And, if you're an Ornament Girls Club Member, please post it in our private FB group!)

I'll see ya in a week, with Challenge Pattern #6.

Happy Ornament-ing!

Staci Ann

p.s. If you bought your foam ahead of time based on the Supply List I gave you, this week uses an 8-Lined Ball. But, don't worry if you don't have a pre-lined ball... this one can either be done without lines, or you can draw your own.)

p.p.s. Here are the OG Team's ornaments this week:

Have you taken my free Basic Star Ornament Workshop yet?

Can you tell us how many of each size & color of the fabric? The e-book just has the sizes & but not how many of which color.

Hi Carol, do you happen to see the fabric cut sheet right next to the ebook download on the Bethlehem Star page? That shows the breakdown of fabrics and sizes. Will you let me know if you don’t happen to see that on your download page and I’ll see what may be going on there? Thanks so much! Happy ornamenting.

I have noticed a 3” ball is usually used. Could I use a 4” ball and use 3 1/2” pieces of fabric??

    • Sarah Cinocco on August 27, 2023 at 7:20 pm

Hi Susan, our ornament patterns are designed for 3″ foam balls, but they can definitely be adapted to different size balls. I think for a 4″ ball, increasing the size of the fabric by about 1/2″ is a great start. You will also have to experiment with the spacing of your layers. I hope that helps get you started! Happy Ornament-ing!
