12 Weeks of Christmas Ornaments Challenge 2023 Week 4: The Western Star Pattern

For Week 4, we're reaching into the vault and pulling out a previously Club-only design.

The Western Star Pattern.

This pattern is special because its focal point is a five-pointed star, which is a little more rare in the quilted ornament world.

We originally created this design for patriotic fabrics, but we wanted to show you just how gorgeous this pattern can be in holiday fabrics, too! (Scroll down!)

Just like most of our patterns...  you'll get a step-by-step video tutorial AND a full-length eBook showing each step in detail, with photos.

Here's mine. I was SO tickled with how this came out. (Tip: Pick your most solid or striking, fabric for your center star to really make it pop.)

Your turn!

Your challenge is.... to make your own Western Star ornament using your 3 chosen fabrics.... have fun creating your color combo!

Remember, if you don't know how to make the Western Star pattern, you can buy it (on sale this week only) by CLICKING HERE.

Then, show us what you've got by posting it on Instagram using the hashtag #OrnamentGirlsChallenge so we can all see it!

(And, if you're an Ornament Girls Club Member, please post it in our private FB group!)

I'll see ya in a week, with Challenge Pattern #5. (Make sure you're on my email list!)

Happy Ornament-ing!

Staci Ann

p.s. If you bought your foam ahead of time-based on the Supply List I gave you, this week uses a  5-Lined Ball. (But, don't worry if you don't have a pre-lined ball. We have a video showing you how you can mark your own.)

p.p.s. Monica's striking red & black Western Star ornament is shown at the top of this post. Here are the rest of the OG Team's Week #4 ornaments:

Tanya's Icy Blue Western Star.. I love how the beautiful pattern in her blue fabric is the focal point of her star:

Darlene's adorable candy-themed ornament:

Kennedy's beautiful country-themed ornament:

Olivia pretty-in-pink Western Star:

And, here is Tanya's adorable Halloween version:

Is there an adjustment on total rectangles for the country design? I just love how the green layers look.

    • Sarah Cinocco on October 16, 2023 at 2:52 pm

Hi Suzanne, we’re so glad you like Kennedy’s variation! We don’t have the cuts listed anywhere specifically, but to get that look, you will need 10 more rectangles of that color. I hope that helps!
