I am actually working on a tutorial for those. :)
I painted some clear glass ornies with a paint pen and within the hour it had dried but went kinda streaky and when I touched it, it completely rubbed off. What kind of paint should I be using and should I seal it…I would prefer to use a pen to paint and brush.
Hi Kate…I haven’t actually tried any paint pens YET…so far I’ve only tried the acrylic paints with a brush…but let me do a little experimenting and get back to you.. (By the way, what kind of paint pen did you use? Was it acrylic paint?)
Hi there!! You are sooooo talented! And I am so envious of your work space!!! I wish I could have that..mine still looks a lot worst than your old space ….I mean, at least with the old space you still can work. Mine you can’t even find what’s around!!
Anyways, I was interested in a few things if you could help me out. I’d like to make some purchases. Do you sell the items such as the “moonlight ornament” along with the tutorial? I need the materials you used more than the tutorial.
I am willing to pay for it but I want to make it myself for my husband as his late grandmother used to make ornaments when he was a child – so it would mean more if I made it than if I just bought it from you. If you do sell the materials these are the ones I am interested in….
there are two more but I don’t see them on your site right now. luckily I saved the picture when I was looking at it so if you’d email me, I’d be able to send you the pictures.
I look forward to hearing from you!
*keeping my fingers crossed!*
Thanks so much for your time!
Leah, I replied to your email about the Moonlight and the other two ornaments you sent the photos of…just let me know, and thank you!!
Could you please tell me what “DIY” means. I am new to this abbreviation.
Thanks very much. Your work is dazzling and your web page is very easy to use and friendly. I know I will visit you often.
DIY means “do it yourself.”
Thanks for the compliment…I really appreciate it!
What do you use to make glitter ornaments for plastic, not glass, balls?
Do I use the same “adhesive”? I really appreciate your advice.
Lynda, I used the same stuff as for glass. Here’s an update to the tutorial that I did using plastic: https://theornamentgirl.com/blog/being-crafty/glitter-ornaments-with-clear-plastic-bulbs/
Love your ornaments!! I have a very large family and make an ornament for them every year instead of buying gifts. I usually make 40 or 50 so I have some to give friends. All during the year they keep asking me,”what is the ornament for this year?” I’ve made “stinky cheese men” ,quilted birds, quilted cat/fish (head of a cat and tail of a fish), At family gatherings we always have a catfish fry dinner. I will definately use some of your ideas for next year. Thanks, Kitty
that’s awesome, Kitty! :)
Hello … was wondering if you would sell just the KITS (supplies only) without the tutorials? I’ve been making ornaments for seven years so I know the process. But I LOVE the fabrics in some of your kits. I live in a small town and only have one place to buy fabrics and the choices are very limited. Your work is amazing! Thanks
Ellen, I’d be glad to work something out with you. Would you send me an email to staciann (at) theornamentgirl.com, and let me know which kits you’re interested in? Thanks so much! :)
Due to your inspiration, for the third year in a row I have made ornaments that are used to make money for my local animal shelter. They are always a big hit and bring in alot of money for the animals. Thanks for inspiring me and helping the animals.
Cookie! You just made my Christmas; that is SO wonderful!
These are awesome ideas! Thank you so much for posting these, and I look forward to ordering the pattern for the quilted ornaments too. I may get so caught up that I order today. Thanks again, you are very talented and I appreciate you sharing
How can I get the instructions for all of these creative ornaments??
although not my comment……. how can I get a hard copy of your instructions. My printer is not capable of printing a 40 plus page document. many thanks
Hi Sue…. Unfortunately, I don’t have printed books available just yet, but it is something I am working on and hope to have available in the very near future. It has just been a matter of being able to get it done affordably. I’m definitely so sorry for the inconvenience!
If it helps, I know that many of my customers just use them straight from their computers or tablets. They’re in PDF format, and they look fantastic on tablets/iPads.
If it helps, I went to Staples to print other newsletters (I like to have the paper in my hand not on the computer…that way I can go outside to read it if I want) and it was $.10 a page. Very reasonable.
you do beautiful work!
How about an Irish one with shamrocks or the 40 shades of green the my wonderful Ireland is known for.
I don’t remember if you have done one for Chanukah.
Love those ideas, Mary… thank you!
was wondering are you going to be at the quilt show in Sept 24-27,2015 in Jacksonville Fla.
No, I am not. Sounds like fun, though!
Thank you, thank you ….I’ve been trying to start one myself I just got confused…lol! The ornaments are so beautiful. I need to learn how to start it. I got a pincushion n I undid it just to see how it’s done, just made a mess.. Please can you show r send instruction to me. Thank you..
Signed up for newsletter. Have not received any email.
I’m so sorry about that. I’m re-sending it right now. Will you let me know if you still don’t receive it? Thanks so much! :)
Is there a certain size ball we’re supposed to use for the size square?
Do you have a pattern for making a styrofoam Christmas tree with fabric squares?
I just joined and am awaiting my FIRST ornament which should arrive sometime middle of December I was told. YEAH. After reading some of the above remarks I hope I don’t run into problems as I DO have a computer but NO printer. Does that mean that I will not be able to have the booklet that was mentioned? I will wait and see. Looking so forward to starting one of your lovely ornaments. I make ornaments for 52 people; 33 of them family every year. This year I made Shell Angels AND also some Bead Angel ornaments. I will start right away (work on them all year) to make the material ones (yours) for 2017 Christmas.
i never received any previous instructions before today, i am so happy to get them today . thank you so very much. mary
My mother-in-law taught me how to make quilted ornaments in the late 1980’s, and I made some for gifts for my younger boys’ teachers. I had forgotten how to do the ornaments until I found several tutorials this past fall. I made a special ornament for a friend whose father had passed away earlier in 2016. She gave me a sack of his ties and asked me if I could use them. I made one for her from three of his ties (cutting them apart to make the pieces). I placed one of his tie tacks in the center of the star on one side. It was a cross painted to look like an American flag. She was thrilled!! I plan to use some of your patterns to make more for her this year.
This is Extremely great. Experienced understand concept that it was that enormous previous yr.
