Christmas Ornament Challenge 2026 Week Two: The Hexi Window Pattern

It's Week #2! This week, we're making....

The Hexi Window Pattern.

This is one of those patterns that looks harder than it actually is. In fact, if you've been intimidated by this one, I dare you to go ahead and give it a try this week. I guarantee you'll be surprised. (and maybe addicted. #sorry)

There are so many ways you can make this pattern. In the ornament above, our shop manager Olivia used her three fabrics in the same order throughout her ornament, creating the appearance that her stripes are radiating out from the center.

Below, Kennedy used only two of her fabrics in the main design (using her third fabric for the band). She followed the same pattern, but notice how using only two fabrics created an entirely different effect.

Your turn!

Your challenge is.... to make your own Hexi Window ornament using your 3 chosen fabrics.... you can arrange your fabrics like we have, or better yet, mix it up!

If you don't know how to make the Hexi Window pattern, you can find it at its very special price, this week only!

(Already own it? Access it HERE. If you aren't sure if you own this pattern or not, simply click this link and see if you have access. Make sure you're logged in!)

Then, show me what you've got by posting it on Instagram using the hashtag #OrnamentGirlsChallenge so we can all see it!

(And, if you're an Ornament Girls Club Member, please post it in our private FB group!)

I'll see ya in a week, with Challenge Pattern #3.

Happy Ornament-ing!

Staci Ann

p.s. If you bought your foam ahead of time-based on the Supply List I gave you, this week uses a 6-Lined Ball. But, don't worry if you don't have a pre-lined ball... this one can either be done without lines, or you can draw your own.)

p.p.s. Here are some of the OG Team's Week #2 ornaments:

Funny story about Darlene's Hexi Window...

She made her Hexi Window ornament and sent it to me to take pictures.

Except we realized her Hexi Window wasn't a Hexi Window at all. She had accidentally created a whole new pattern.

And hadn't even realized it!

That's how talented Darlene is, guys. She creates new patterns without even realizing she's doing it.

So be on the lookout for that brand new pattern one day in the future!

Hello, I was a member for a year and love the patterns I bought. I still get your daily images of the new patterns and fabric choices. Thank you for keeping me on your list. It’s like a good morning picture. Today, I wanted to buy the pattern and wonderfully, when I started to purchase, an automatic message told me I already own the pattern! Great website and website manager.

don’t we even get a peek at Darlene’s?

      Hi Patty,
We don’t have a photo of this ornament for Darlene for week 2, but we will be showing off her work for the remaining weeks! I am so glad you love her choices!

It would be helpful to know which variation of the Hexi pattern was used for each of these ornaments.

Hi Judy, everyone used the standard version of the Hexi Window pattern, except Kennedy and Lydia who did Snow Globes. This pattern has a lot of options for customization so they all look quite different even though they were made using the same version. I hope you are feeling inspired to start yours!

I would like to try to make one similar to Olivia’s but can’t quite figure out which of the coloring sheets
goes with that design. Would appreciate it if you could advise – and possibly which color sheet goes with
the other girls’ choices as well. Will be fun to tackle this.
    Many thanks,

      Hi Ann,
I believe everyone worked with the original pattern, but got creative with their fabric placements. For Olivia’s, rather than switching off colors in the rows, she just did all of fabric 2 or 3 for a whole row and kept the fabric 1 (the red) the same throughout the ornament. We don’t have a coloring sheet that outlines that, but you can definitely mark those sheets up however you want to help you get the look you are going for.
