3 quick & easy ornaments you can make in 10 minutes.
Christmas time is upon us, and this is one girl who is thrilled about it.
It seemed to creep up quick this year, didn’t it? (I guess it always does!) If you’re in need of any quick and easy gift ideas, or if you just want to make yourself some more decorations for the tree (like me!), I’ve got 3 clear glass ornament ideas that’ll take you all of 10 minutes to throw together.
Okay, the last one might take you 15…not including paint drying time… but it’s still super easy. :)
Mistletoe and Snow
This one is my favorite. It’s so simple and elegant. All I did was snip a tiny sprig from a bunch of mistletoe that I bought at Michaels a couple of years ago:
And I added it, along with a little bit of fake snow, inside of my glass bulb. Isn’t it pretty?
Frosty Jingle Bells
This one is even easier. I added some clear glass seed beads to the bottom of the bulb, and then topped them with a mix of blue and white jingle bells. (I used glittery and shiny bells to make it more interesting!)
Pearled Snowflake
First, I painted the inside of a clear glass ornament with Martha Stewart Acrylic Craft Paint (color: Mother of Pearl, #32127).
And then, I created a snowflake, using self-stick flat-backed pearls (from the scrapbooking section of Michaels). I used a flat-backed turquoise crystal rhinestone in the center.
This one took the longest, but not too much longer. And just think of all the colors you could use! I’m thinking a midnight blue, with silver crystal rhinestones? Oooo….Ahhhh….
What do you think? And, have you made any ornaments using clear glass bulbs? I’d love to hear your ideas.
(And by the way…if none of these tickle your fancy, I’ve got a big list of 25 more ways you can decorate clear glass ornaments, right HERE.)
I found your site while shopping at Michael’s for a quick ornament to make with my daughter’s 5th grade class. I just love your blog and your writing is so fun and inviting. I’m gonna keep my eye on your site and see what else I can learn to do. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Susan…I’m so happy to have you here! :)
Love all you put on facebook also love your site. Keep bringing us new ideas!
Thank you, Cathy! :)
II like the idea of layering hot chocolate mix, mini marshmellow and mini chocolate chips in the glass orbs. Enough for one serving of hot chocolate, but the idea sounds different. Haven’t done it yet, but its on my list.
That sounds super cute!
I just recently made a variety of ornaments inspired by different things I saw online. I used floor wax and multiple sparkle colours to coat the inside of glass ball ornaments, then I painted snowflakes on the outside. I took green ornaments and painted white trees with red birds in them. Curled paper into another, poured paint on the inside of others and wrote Christmas sayings on the outside. I have a few more ideas….and most of these don’t take more than 15 minutes :) Hey Staci Ann, I think I might join your Holiday Craft Room, but I’m from Canada (does that matter?) and I’ve never sold my stuff before (help?).
Christina, you can join from anywhere in the world! Are you thinking about starting to sell your things? If so, I think you’d get a lot out of the Craft Room… I am planning to talk about things like, setting up a website, taking pictures of your products, pricing your products, and getting your name out there (and a lot more). So, if you’re interested in starting to sell online, this might be perfect for you! :)
I would like instructions on how to get to the Craft Room. I am very interested in joining. I am already a Club member and I love it.
Norma Jean
That is too cool!
Thanks for sharing these simple tips on how to create.
You’re so welcome, Carla..thanks!
I love that you share your ideas! This year and last I have made ornaments from your page for a Christmas luncheon. This year I made the ones from metal jar lids…they look amazing!
Donna, that is AWESOME to hear…thank you! :)
hi I was wondering how you get the paint to cover the inside of the bulb? I can’t seem to get a smooth paint job around the whole inside of the bulb. thank you.
I just made my first egg ornament. Very pleased with how it came out but was surprised it took me so long…..about 5 hours. Is this usual? Also wondering if anyone has tried making these on smaller eggs? I was thinking about adapting the pattern by making the fabric pieces 1/2 the size since the eggs are half the size.
Lois, it may have just taken that long because it was your first one. They get much faster to complete once you’re used to the technique.
And yes, you can certainly make them in different sized eggs, and reduce the fabric pieces accordingly. :)
I love your ideas, I can’t wait to make a few to add to my tree.
Can’t wait for the Jan 1st to join the group.
Hi Staci Ann!
I noticed that your Pearled Snowflake ornament has hidden Mickeys on it! Oooo, Ahhh!! Once you are a lifetime Disney fan, you just can’t turn it off! Happy New Year 2021!
Priscilla
