OG Inspire: Festive Cactus Ornament

Welcome to my Ornament Girl Inspire Series!

These posts won't take you but a few seconds to read. Each one will simply contain an ornament picture meant to inspire you & give you some new ideas.

Today's ornament: a festive cactus for Cinco de Mayo!

Pattern Info:  This ornament was made with the January 2019 Ornament Girls Club Pattern of the Month. (And if you were an Ornament Girl at that time, you can find a BONUS video with your January pattern, showing some tips for making these!)

Materials Info: Made on a 3" SoftFoam ball. The yellow fabrics were from Joanns, and the festive fabrics on the bottom were from Walmart.

Our designer Monica made little 'spikes' by scattering beads onto her cactus, held on with regular pins. It's topped with scrapbooking flowers, gathered together with some matching pearl-tipped pins.

Happy Ornament-ing!

Happy Cinco de Mayo, StaciAnn and Monica, and OG TEAM! I have always loved this festive little cactus, AND FINALLY MADE ONE last week! At one time, when I was first an OG Member (2018), I had seen this fabric in WalMart–but didn’t know then ‘how to’ make much more than a Basic Star; so, I didn’t pick up the fabric. Then, when you showed and INSPIRED us with these desert beauties, I started searching for the fabric; finally found on Ebay; and now I have made my first–including bright yellow pony beads, and topped with a teal bloom and a gold hanger-string. It’s adorable, and I am making others, starting today–the one with the ‘frisky whiskery’ spines (made with frayed string). I love ornament-making ‘on the go,’ and gifting something unique and handmade. You and your TEAM are NoSEW TALENTED, and inspire me very much!
