12 Weeks of Christmas Ornaments Challenge 2024 Week 4: The Radiance Pattern

It's Week #4! It's been almost a year since we introduced this pattern in the Ornament Girls Club. It's such a showstopper that we just HAD to add it to our Classic Library.

This week we're doing the Radiance Pattern.

It looks complicated, right?

Well believe it or not, there are only three layers per side, and ONLY ONE folding technique. Yes, one simple fold results in this stunning and intricate design.

WERE YOU A CLUB MEMBER IN DECEMBER 2023? Do not purchase this. You automatically have access to this pattern in your Pattern Library!

(If you don't own this pattern, you can grab it HERE for a very special price for this week only! Already own it? Access it HERE.)

Tanya opted to use only two of her challenge fabrics for this one. You can do the same, or use all three of your fabrics, as the rest of our team did in the examples below...

Your turn!

Your challenge is.... to make your own Radiance ornament using your 3 chosen fabrics.... you can arrange your fabrics like we have, or better yet, mix it up!

Remember, if you don't know how to make the Radiance pattern, you can learn it right HERE.

Then, show me what you've got by posting it on Instagram using the hashtag #OrnamentGirlsChallenge so we can all see it!

(And, if you're an Ornament Girls Club Member, please post it in our private FB group!)

I'll see ya in a week, with Challenge Pattern #5.

Happy Ornament-ing!

Staci Ann

p.s. If you bought your foam ahead of time-based on the Supply List I gave you, this week uses a 5-Lined Ball. But, don't worry if you don't have a pre-lined ball... this one can either be done without lines, or you can draw your own.)

p.p.s. Here are some of the OG Team's Week #4 ornaments:

Darlene's beautiful pink & gold Christmas Radiance, and her patriotic version:

Tanya's adorable Halloween Radiance (her Christmas version is above):

Kennedy's adorable vintage rose-themed Radiance:

Elizabeth's elegant red and gold Radiance:

Olivia's beautiful red & green holly Radiance:

My traditional Christmasy Radiance:

By the way.. this pattern originally uses two fabrics. It's easy to add a third fabric, and there are lots of combinations you could use.

For my ornament above, here's how I used mine in place of what is shown in the pattern:

  • Fabric #1: Cream
  • Fabric #2: Red
  • Fabric #3: Holly

For Layer One, I placed Fabric #1 (cream) on top of Fabric #2 (red).

For Layer Two, I placed Fabric #3 (holly) on top of Fabric #1 (cream).

For Layer Three, I placed Fabric #1 (cream) on top of Fabric #3 (holly).

In the photo just above, the 3 stacks represent the 3 layers, and show how I stacked my colors. Let me know if you have any questions!

Can I please get the name of the fabrics used by Elizabeth?

Can you list the cutting amounts needed for using three colors? Thank you.

Love all of the variations! Following along with the Stacey traditional ornament how many of each color do we need to cut out?

This pattern is beautiful, but for me it is so frustrating. I measure, pin, unpin, remeasure, and when I pin, it still is not looking right. I will not give up, so tomorrow I am going to do another one. Hopefully, this third try at this elegant pattern will result in an elegant ornament, not a wonky mess!??

If I am using 3 fabrics how many of each color do I need? Your picture of your stashes doesn’t help me.

      Hi Mary,
There are several different ways you can change your fabrics around to make the Radiance pattern with 3 colors. It will largely depend on the look you are trying to achieve.
Here are a few options that some of our team used:
      30 squares of Fabric #1
      10 squares of Fabric #2
      20 squares of Fabric #3
This will give you a pop of fabric number 2 in the middle of your ornament and the other pieces will accent it.
      Another option could be
      10 squares of Fabric #1
      30 squares of Fabric #2
      20 squares of Fabric #3
I hope you love working on yours!

I must have touched the wrong button. I do not want to opt out of the challenge.

I wanted to order the special @ $7.99 and the cart says it is $10.00 is there a way that I can order it and pay special price?

I had the same problem asBernice P. I started my order and the price was $7.00. i went to get my credit card and check out. The price is now $10.00 plus tax. Is there a way to purchase at the special price. If this was the last day, I assumed I had until midnight. I love your patterns and gift them to my family every Christmas.
