12 Weeks of Christmas Ornaments Challenge 2024 Week 5: The Rosebud Pattern

It's already Week #5! I'm so excited because this week we're making...

The Rosebud Pattern.

Now please don't run away. This is a GORGEOUS pattern, but I know some of you have found it to be challenging in the past.

Well, I've got to tell you.... we recently tackled this pattern in the OG Christmas Club and since we knew it could potentially be difficult for some of our members, we came up with a slightly different method for making it.

And we received an overwhelmingly positive outcome! So many OGs posted in our facebook group that they found it fun and easy to make their ornament.

I'm personally finding the Rosebud Pattern to be a new favorite. It's addicting.. and FAST. Yes, truly. We've even nicknamed it the 'Rapid Rosebud.'

Now, we did have plenty of OGs who had NO problem with the original version, and so you'll find both methods of making this pattern on the Rosebud Pattern Workshop Page.

(If you don't own this pattern, you can grab it HERE for a very special price for this week only! Already own it? Access it HERE.)

This pattern is PERFECT for three fabrics. You can see the OG Team's ornaments just below. (Also below, I've broken down how I replaced my fabrics with the ones I've listed out on the Rapid Rosebud Cheat Sheet, so you can easily follow along.)

Tanya's Rosebud looks so dramatic in her red, black, and white fabrics:

Your turn!

Your challenge is.... to make your own Rosebud ornament using your 3 chosen fabrics.... you can arrange your fabrics like we have, or better yet, mix it up!

Remember, if you don't know how to make the Rosebud pattern, you can learn it right HERE.

Then, show me what you've got by posting it on Instagram using the hashtag #OrnamentGirlsChallenge so we can all see it!

(And, if you're an Ornament Girls Club Member, please post it in our private FB group!)

I'll see ya in a week, with Challenge Pattern #6.

Happy Ornament-ing!

Staci Ann

p.s. If you bought your foam ahead of time-based on the Supply List I gave you, this week uses a 4-Lined Ball. But, don't worry if you don't have a pre-lined ball... this one can either be done without lines, or you can draw your own.)

p.p.s. Here are some of the OG Team's Week #5 ornaments:

Darlene's beautiful pink & gold Christmas Rosebud, and her patriotic version:

Tanya's adorable Halloween Rosebud (her Christmas version is above):

Kennedy's adorable vintage rose-themed Rosebud:

Olivia's beautiful red & green holly Rosebud:

My traditional Christmasy Rosebud:

For my ornament above, I used the Rapid Rosebud method, and here's how I used mine in place of what is shown in the Video Tutorial and Cheat Sheet:

  • In place of the 'Light' fabric, I used Cream
  • In place of the 'Medium' fabric, I used Holly
  • In place of the 'Dark' fabric, I used Red

Remember, this is just a guideline... you can put your 3 fabrics in ANY order.

I recommend writing your own fabric substitutions right on the Printable Sheet Sheet to make things simple!

      Hi Brendie,
I am so sorry, it doesn’t look like she was able to get this one done. She will be back next week with more pretty pictures to share!

        Hi there
I am in Scotland, and have just joined in with doing this wonderful craft…
I signed up for the introductory course and paid by PayPal… I have tried to purchase the special offer as I signed up, and to purchase the Rosebud set, but you do not appear to accept PayPal for this, and I do not use my cards for online purchases, particularly overseas…

        Can you please advise?

          Hi Janet,
Thank you so much for reaching out! I am so sorry about any confusion! It looks like our customer service team member Clara has answered your email. Unfortunately, due to some of the policies with PayPal, we are unable to accept PayPal as a payment method for our patters. I am so sorry again. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reply to Clara’s email as well and we’ll be happy to help out in any way we can.
