Mini Patriotic Ornament Challenge 2022 Week 4: The Shooting Star Pattern

How did your Prairie Pinwheel ornament turn out? I saw lots of beautiful ornaments last week!

This week we'll be making the beautiful Shooting Star pattern!

This pattern started by accident a few years ago, when I was playing around with the Basic Star pattern for the #12DaysofSummer Challenge. I knew I was on to something, so I kept working on it, and this was the result!

For my ornament above, I used the 2-color spiral with 3rd color border variation.

Oh, and this one comes with some awesome bonuses. In addition to the eBook and Video, you get:

  • A bonus video showing you an 'alternate ending' for the Shooting Star pattern.
  • A video showing you how to turn the original 2-color variation of the Shooting Star, into 3-colors.
  • A printable Reference Guide listing the fabric cuts you'll need for several variations of the Shooting Star pattern.

Your turn!

Your challenge is.... to make your own Shooting Star Pattern using your 3 chosen fabrics.... you can arrange your fabrics like I have above, or better yet, mix it up (like Darlene and Tanya did below!)

Remember, if you don't know how to make the Shooting Star Pattern, you can get the pattern & video combo, right HERE.

Then, show me what you've got by posting it on Instagram using the hashtag #OrnamentGirlsChallenge so we can all see it!

(And, if you're an Ornament Girls Club Member, please post it in our private FB group!)

If you bought your foam ahead of time based on the list I gave you, this week uses a 8-Lined Ball. But, don't worry if you don't have a pre-lined ball... you can also draw your own!)

Here are Darlene and Tanya's Week #4 ornaments!

How did you do?

If you followed the challenge through all four weeks, you should have a beautiful set of matching ornaments. We REALLY hope you enjoy trying out these patterns! I can't wait to see your Challenge ornaments. Please tag us on Instagram with the hashtag #OrnamentGirlsChallenge so we (and all the other challengers) can see what you've made!
