{"id":9742,"date":"2021-09-19T21:42:05","date_gmt":"2021-09-20T01:42:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theornamentgirl.com\/blog\/?p=9742"},"modified":"2021-09-19T21:42:05","modified_gmt":"2021-09-20T01:42:05","slug":"12-weeks-christmas-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theornamentgirl.com\/blog\/ornament-challenges\/12-weeks-christmas-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"12 Weeks of Christmas Challenge 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\r\n\t<p>Back in the summer of 2018, I challenged myself to make a bunch of different ornaments out of the same 3 fabrics.<\/p>\r\n<p>Prior to that, I'd spent the last couple of years coming up with a new pattern almost every month for the Ornament Girls Club, and I wanted to go back and make some of my older patterns again, plus spend more time with some of the newer ones.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The best part was that some of you decided to do it right along with me, and made your own set of 12 ornaments.<\/p>\r\n<p>The idea grew bigger, and that fall, we did our first official Ornament Girls Challenge together!<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>I hope you'll join me.. if you do, then by the end of it\u00a0<b><i>(and just in time for Christmas)<\/i><\/b>, you'll have a set of 12 beautiful, matching ornaments, each made with a different pattern!<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>So don't worry&#8230;. for the official Challenge, we'll be making one ornament per WEEK.<\/p>\r\n<h3>How will this work?<\/h3>\r\n<p>Each week, starting next Monday, September 27th, I'll send you an email telling you what that week's <b>challenge pattern<\/b>\u00a0is, and I'll show you photos of mine and my team's versions, to hopefully inspire you and give you some ideas.<\/p>\r\n<p>(Not on my email list yet? Joining my email list gets you a free video workshop!)<\/p>\r\n<p>When you make each week's ornament, you can share it with me (& all the other participants) on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ornamentgirl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Instagram<\/strong><\/a> using the hashtag\u00a0<b>#OrnamentGirlsChallenge<\/b>\u00a0(and if you're an OG club member, please also share in our private group!)<\/p>\r\n<h3>What will you need?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>2. A LOT of straight pins. I would go ahead and buy yourself a nice big one pound box from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theornamentgirl.com\/blog\/bulk-pins-dressmaker-size-17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p>3. Foam.\u00a0<b>Okay, so I usually haven't given this info out ahead of time, but here's the thing.<\/b>\u00a0I can give you an\u00a0<i>almost-<\/i>definite foam list for the first 11 weeks.<\/p>\r\n<p>But, as we've done every year, the 12th week will coincide with our big bundle of NEW PATTERNS &#8211; and just like last year, there will be SEVERAL new patterns to choose from!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4>Weeks 1-11, you'll need:<\/h4>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>7 &#8211; <i>3&#8243; Balls (where\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theornamentgirl.com\/market\/product\/8-lined-3-inch-soft-foam-ball\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>8 lines<\/b><\/a> would be very helpful, but there are a couple here where you could get away with unlined.)<\/i><\/li>\r\n<li>2 &#8211; <i>3&#8243; Balls (where\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theornamentgirl.com\/market\/product\/6-lined-3-inch-soft-foam-ball\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>6 lines<\/b><\/a>\u00a0would be very helpful)<\/i><\/li>\r\n<li>1 &#8211; <i>3&#8243; Balls (where\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theornamentgirl.com\/market\/product\/5-lined-3-inch-soft-foam-ball\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>5 lines<\/b><\/a>\u00a0would be very helpful)<\/i><\/li>\r\n<li>1-\u00a0<i><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/theornamentgirl.com\/blog\/smooth-foam-ovals-3-and-quarter-inch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disc<\/a><\/strong> (this could change if we do not get our next foam shipment in time, as I know these are hard to find!)<\/i><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h4>Week 12: ANY of the following\u00a0<i>(or, all of them!)<\/i><\/h4>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>3&#8243; Ball with 6 lines or a Disc,\u00a0<b>OR&#8230;<\/b><\/li>\r\n<li>3&#8243; Ball with 6 lines\u00a0<i>(for another of the patterns)<\/i>,\u00a0<b>OR&#8230;<\/b><\/li>\r\n<li>Heart Shape,<b>\u00a0OR&#8230;<\/b><\/li>\r\n<li>Two more that are secret for now:\u00a0<i>We have two new shapes<\/i><i>\u00a0coming soon to our OG Shop, and I don't want to say what they are yet, until I know they are here.)<\/i><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<p>4. Whatever embellishments you'd like to use for all 12 ornaments (I'm going to try and use the same embellishments for all 12 ornaments).<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h4>What if you don't yet own each week's pattern?<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Be sure you're on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ornamentgirls.com\/basic-star-workshop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">my email list<\/a><\/strong> so you can get each week's Challenge Email! Each week's email will say &#8216;<b>Ornament Challenge Week #'<\/b>\u00a0in the subject line so you can spot it easily!<\/p>\r\n<p>(If you've never tried one of my patterns before&#8230;. they are FOOLPROOF. And many of them come with full-length videos, too. So, no worries.. you WILL be able to make these ornaments along with me. :) )<\/p>\r\n<h3>So.. will you join me for this?
