When you sign up for my email list, I send\u00a0you a free pattern<\/a>\u00a0e-Book<\/a>, for an ornament design that I created several years back, that I named\u00a0“Moonlight”.<\/p>\n

It’s one of my all-time favorite ornaments (blue is my favorite color!), and it’s just one of those craft projects\u00a0that ends up looking even more beautiful than you expect it to!<\/p>\n

What a lot of people don’t realize is that it’s also a very versatile pattern that you can make simple changes to, to create a totally different ornament.<\/h3>\n

I recently posted this ornament on Facebook, and got tons of great feedback<\/a>:<\/p>\n

And guess what? It’s simply a variation of the Moonlight pattern.<\/h2>\n

 
\nThe differences are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. I used 2 different fabrics in place of the blue satin, and alternated them.<\/li>\n
  2. I used braided cord, instead of sequined trim.<\/li>\n
  3. I pinned on some silk leaves, to “fall” from the top.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Other than that, it’s the same exact pattern. Same size, same measurements, same everything. :)<\/p>\n

    In this post, I’m going to show you another\u00a0variation, using wide holiday ribbon in place of fabric (that I bought at Hobby Lobby), to make this ornament:<\/h4>\n

    I’m going to outline the variations\u00a0below to show you how easy it is, but all the measurements and instructions for the original ornament, are shown in (painstaking!) detail in the Moonlight Pattern PDF.<\/p>\n

    Step\u00a01:<\/h2>\n

    Cut out a 3″ smooth\u00a0styrofoam ball<\/a>, as per the measurements in the Moonlight pattern…. and 6 pieces of wide ribbon\u00a0(there’s also a fabric\/ribbon cutting template included on the very last page of the Moonlight Pattern PDF):<\/p>\n

    Step 2:<\/h2>\n

    Tuck your first ribbon\u00a0piece into the grooves of the styrofoam ball:<\/p>\n

    Step 3:<\/h2>\n

    Do the same with the remaining 5 pieces of ribbon.<\/p>\n

    Step 4:<\/h2>\n

    Cover the grooves between pieces, with braided cord (I use Beacon’s Advanced Craft Glue<\/a> for this):<\/p>\n

    Step 5:<\/h2>\n

    At the top (where your braided trim begins and ends), cover the ends of the cord with a bow & hanger made from narrow ribbon…. and done!<\/p>\n

    Isn’t that WAY easier than it looks? :)<\/h2>\n

    Now just imagine all the different fabrics and trims you could use…. for totally different looks.<\/p>\n
