What am I supposed to do?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>So, yes, the original Basic Star pattern (and the <b><a href=\"https:\/\/ornamentgirls.com\/basic-star-workshop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">free workshop<\/a><\/b>) calls for 2 fabrics, but you can actually use ANY number of different fabrics in this pattern&#8230; and for the Challenge, we are using 3.<\/p>\r\n\t<h4>In my Challenge ornament, my fabrics are:<\/h4>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Fabric 1: Cream<\/li>\r\n<li>Fabric 2: Red<\/li>\r\n<li>Fabric 3: Holly<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h4>And, here is how I arranged them (for 3 layers):<\/h4>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><b>Layer 1:<\/b> Fabric 1 <i>(like the original pattern)<\/i><\/li>\r\n<li><b>Layer 2: <\/b>Fabric 2 <i>(like the original pattern)<\/i><\/li>\r\n<li><b>Layer 3:<\/b> Fabric 3 <i>(replacing color 1 here)<\/i><\/li>\r\n<li><b>No Layer 4<\/b><\/li>\r\n<li><b>Band:<\/b> Fabric 3<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\t<p>So, if you want to arrange your fabrics in the same way, the pieces you will need to cut for each color are:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><b>Fabric 1: <\/b>8 &#8211; 2&#215;3&#8243; rectangles<\/li>\r\n<li><b>Fabric 2: <\/b>16 &#8211; 2&#215;3&#8243; rectangles<\/li>\r\n<li><b>Fabric 3: <\/b>16 &#8211; 2&#215;3&#8243; rectangles + 2-1\/2&#8243; x 10-1\/2&#8243; band piece<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/ornamentgirls.com\/basic-star-workshop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" itemprop=\"url\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theornamentgirl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/staci-ornament-girl-challenge-quilted-ornament-basic-star-1.jpg\" alt=\"staci-ornament-girl-challenge-quilted-ornament-basic-star-1\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"667\" width=\"1000\" title=\"staci-ornament-girl-challenge-quilted-ornament-basic-star-1\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\r\n\t<h4>Darlene did 4 layers.
