We’ve had a few questions come in since I announced the 12 Weeks of Christmas Challenge the other day. So, here are some answers for ya!<\/p>\r\n
Do I have to sign up for this?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n Nopers! It’s something you can choose to participate in (or not), you do not need to carve anything into a stone tablet, nor do you have to commit to anything. You can even join us for just a few of them if you want.<\/p>\r\n It’s just for fun! :)<\/p>\r\n Will there be a new challenge every month?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n We DO plan to do other challenges in the future (mini ones).<\/p>\r\n But, this one challenge will take place over about 3 months, taking us right up through Christmas (making this a good time to make some Christmas gifts!).<\/i> The challenge is to make 1 ornament each week for 12 weeks.<\/p>\r\n How will this work?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n Each week, starting on Monday, September 25th, I’ll send you an email telling you what that week’s challenge pattern<\/b> is, and I’ll show you photos of mine and my team’s, to hopefully inspire you and give you some ideas.<\/p>\r\n (Not on my email list yet? Joining my email list gets you a free video workshop!)<\/p>\r\n When you make each week’s ornament, you can share it with me (& all the other participants) on Instagram<\/a> using the hashtag\u00a0#OrnamentGirlsChallenge<\/b>\u00a0(and if you’re an OG club member, please also share in our private group!)<\/p>\r\n How much does it cost?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n You’ll have the cost of your supplies, and if you choose to buy any of the patterns that you may not already have.<\/p>\r\n What will you need?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n In order to make all 12 ornaments, you will need…<\/i><\/p>\r\n 1.\u00a0About 2 to 2-1\/2 yards EACH of three different fabrics<\/b> (this is a\u00a0generous<\/u>\u00a0approximation – you may use slightly different amounts depending on how you arrange your fabrics on your own ornaments. We’ve been told each year that many of you have some left over when you start with this amount, but we’re just trying to err on the safe side.)<\/i><\/p>\r\n ****I recommend 3 fabrics that contrast highly with each other.<\/u>****<\/b><\/p>\r\n 2. A LOT of straight pins. I would go ahead and buy yourself a nice big one pound box from\u00a0HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n 3. Foam (See a breakdown of exactly what you’ll need, right HERE<\/a>.)<\/strong><\/p>\r\n 4. Whatever embellishments you’d like to use for all 12 ornaments.<\/p>\r\n 5. Each week’s pattern.<\/p>\r\n What if I don’t yet own each week’s pattern?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n I don’t want to leave anyone out, so in order to make this as accessible as possible for\u00a0everyone<\/i> to make along with me, each week’s pattern will be available at a very special deal! The special price will be for one week only, on that week’s pattern. I’ll send you a link to each week’s special deal when I send you your weekly challenge email. (So make sure you’re on my email list!)<\/a><\/b><\/p>\r\n Each week’s email will say ‘Ornament Challenge Week #’<\/b>\u00a0in the subject line so you can spot it easily!<\/p>\r\n (If you’ve never tried one of our patterns before…. they are FOOLPROOF. And many of them come with full-length videos, too. So, no worries.. you WILL be able to make these ornaments along with me. :) )<\/p>\r\n Should I cut out lots of little 2×3″ rectangles ahead of time?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n I wouldn’t!<\/p>\r\n While it’s true that MANY of the patterns use 2x3s, there are also other sizes… and on top of that, I can’t tell you exactly how to cut everything because I don’t know what order\/arrangement\/etc you’ll be using for your own ornaments.<\/p>\r\n I don’t want you to wind up with waste, or too many 2x3s, and then you getting really mad at me. ;)<\/p>\r\n If you just REALLY want to cut something out ahead of time, I would say cut maybe<\/i> an eighth of a yard of each of your 3 fabrics into 2×3″ rectangles and 2″ squares.<\/p>\r\n What if I get behind?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n Please don’t worry about that! I don’t want this to feel like a race or be stressful. It is just for fun. So, if you get behind, it’s totally okay. <\/b>In fact, the worst that can happen is you only make a couple ornaments… which would still be pretty wonderful, right?<\/p>\r\n
