Oooooooh, you have me itching to dust off my supplies and get creative. Thanks for sharing; I found a few favorites.

    • Katt on October 22, 2012 at 6:14 am

      I’m a fiber artist …. I knit, I crochet, I spin, I weave …. I love fiber!!

The yarn balls had me laughing so hard, my gut hurt! What a perfect gift for my fiber-fanatic friends! Or even the not-so-fiber-fanatic ones … they’ll surely not forget who gave them *that* ornament!!

      • Anonymous on November 19, 2013 at 7:43 pm

I saw them with a little tag that says knit wit and needles throughbthe yarn….could use toothpicks.

        • Linda on February 10, 2017 at 2:35 pm

Or use wooden kabob skewers with a wooden bead on the end.

      • Anonymous on December 22, 2013 at 10:12 am

        Very cute!!!!!

      • Bonnie Burkhardt on July 19, 2014 at 7:21 am

How about using the new reflective yarn for these?

        • Anonymous on December 21, 2014 at 6:40 am

Is there a way not to use glass in these for my students

          • Elaine Tuohy on December 21, 2014 at 7:57 am

Yes! Michael’s, Joann’s, Hobby Lobby and many other craft shops have these balls in clear plastic. Also they have other shapes, stars, bells, ovals etc. You can’t tell they are not glass unless you touch tem. :)

They have acrylic ornaments now you can use at craft stores.

Pinterest has me creating lists and plans for all the decorations I want to make this year, there are at least 20, and I can’t just make one of things, there has to be at 2 minimum. Haven’t worked out where I’m going to find the time to do it all, mind you.

    • ornamentgirl on October 8, 2012 at 8:13 pm

I am in the same boat, Larissa. I have a list of things I want to make, but Christmas seems to be speeding toward us way too quickly.

      • Linda on March 3, 2017 at 10:41 am

I have so many craft supplies, but not enough time to make all the projects that I want…and I am retired!!!

  4. Sue on October 10, 2012 at 5:14 am

I’ve probably made two dozen different ornaments already because of Pinterest. I have 40 boards and probably 14,000 pins thusfar. I must admit I’m a Pinterest addict. There, I’ve said it. I love Pinterest as it puts the whole Internet at your fingertips. Thanks for posting the lovely ornaments. I think I’ll be making a few of these too. One can never have too many ornaments!

    • ornamentgirl on October 10, 2012 at 9:28 pm

Oh wow, Sue…that’s a lot of pins! I’m addicted to the ornament and holiday boards. :)

And you’re right…you can’t have too many ornaments!

      • Anonymous on March 3, 2017 at 10:42 am

And, if you think you have too many, they make great gifts.

  5. Betty on October 19, 2012 at 10:42 pm

Love all of these, would love to have book with directions.

  6. Anonymous on October 28, 2012 at 7:23 am

Thank you for posting this. We lost my father-in-law on August 21st of this year. He always put up a huge beautiful Christmas tree. We inherited his house and the huge tree. In memory of him I will be making your sheet music tree ornaments. He was an highly accomplished pianoist and composser. We have a lot of the sheet music he wrote. I will copy it for this project. This will be a special way he will still be with us this year. Once again thank you for the idea.

    • Ronya on November 4, 2012 at 12:05 am

What an amazing way to honor him and to have something extra special this year to remember him by.

      • ornamentgirl on November 4, 2012 at 9:20 pm

        I agree…that is a beautiful idea. :)

        • Teegan on November 24, 2013 at 2:02 pm

OMG, This is such a good website! Definitely recommending it to my friends! This is great for a fiver artist just like me!???? Thanks

  7. Linda on October 28, 2012 at 9:44 am

I like quite a few of them. Mostly all of them. The one which stood out the most was the wooden thread spool with the Christmas List. I have saved all my spools and was wondering what to do with them, Now I know. Thank you.

    • ornamentgirl on November 4, 2012 at 9:19 pm

I really liked that one too, Linda. It’s an awesome way to re-use some of those spools.. :)

  8. Merrie on October 28, 2012 at 12:20 pm

My mom loved gospel music and I have all her old hymn books. I could not part with them all these years. Now, I know what to do with them. I will make the Sheet Music Christmas Balls with them and give out to all of my family and her friends too. Our family is very small and gets smaller as time goes by. Any suggestions on what to do with the leftover hymns pages. I just could not throw them out and who would want them next?

    • Ronya on November 4, 2012 at 12:10 am

You could make some to sell at a boutique or donate them to a church that does a boutique. If you didn’t want to make them all, you could give them the extra pages and directions so that they could make them for their boutique.

There are also many other craft type things that calls for sheet music. Maybe do a search here on Pinterest or on Google and see what comes up. You could use additional pages in a scrapbook or as background for a card.

      • ornamentgirl on November 4, 2012 at 9:22 pm

Definitely, Merrie…I think Ronya’s suggestion to check out Pinterest for music sheet ideas would definitely turn up some good ideas for you.

And I think the music Christmas ornaments would be a beautiful gift for your family! :)

    • niki goodman on November 19, 2013 at 5:56 am

just an idea….if you have an old flat coffee table…give it a lick of paint….paste hymm/music sheets haphazard untill top is completely covered…when totaly dry, put a perspex sheet over the top, or a few coats of yaught varnish to protect it….looks great!

  9. Karie {Girl Going Country} on November 3, 2012 at 11:04 pm

Cannot find the pattern for the pearl wreath ornament. Please help.

    • ornamentgirl on July 30, 2013 at 6:50 am

Melinda, it looks like they took it down. I did a search on Google but I couldn’t find it at all. :(

I don’t know exactly how they made it, but to me it looks like maybe the pearls are all individually connected with really tiny eye pins. And then, the little teardrop dangles could be added on with headpins, connected to the eyepin loops between each pearl link. I hope that helps..

I give each of my grandkids an ornament every year and usually they are multiple variations of one ornament design. I prefer to make them, but sometimes I just can’t find ideas I like that I can make in quantity. Your collection is just my style–crafty and homespun! I think I will use the music sphere/decoupage newsprint ideas but use patterned scrapbooking paper to fit each child’s interests. So glad I found your site!

Hey ornament girl! Can you do me a favor and give me the steps to make the snow scene ornament ? please… i tried searching it and I found no results.

    • ornamentgirl on December 1, 2013 at 9:22 pm

I’m sorry to say that I didn’t make that one myself, but if you click the picture, it will take you to the person who DID make it. She doesn’t give step by step directions, but she does give a general explanation. The tree looks like one of those little trees you can get for a Christmas village scene. She describes in her post that she used a little tacky spray glue and rolled the tree in sugar to give it the “snowy” look. I’m not sure I’d use sugar (even though it looks awesome!), because I live in Florida, and I NEVER want to put out any bait for the neighborhood ants. But, a fine fake snow would give it the same effect if you didn’t want to use sugar.

I’m looking for an inexpensive, yet pretty Butterfly ornament. I need to make/buy about 60-70 of them, but have several people to help. Any ideas?
    Thank you!! ~Sarah

    • Kilia on December 11, 2013 at 11:02 pm

I bet quilling could work, if you make it assembly-line style and have a lot of patience.
You could paint butterflies onto plain ornaments.
The paper medallion could be tweaked to a butterfly by using a snowman-shaped base and using colorful coils on each side.
You could do origami butterflies (I’m search there’s a video on how to make those, somewhere).
You could make them out of paper in a pop-up-card style.
You could mix and match bodies and wings from the following lists:
Body: clothes pin, peanut, pipe cleaner, foam, salt dough/playdough, paper bead, paper roll
Wings: tissue paper, wrapping paper, cardboard/cardstock, stainglass (on clear plastic sheets with colored glue/markers), cloth on cardstock base, playing cards (the back of each card is pretty and if you have 2 decks you can match wings)
Antenna: wire/wire with beads, pipe cleaner, paper coil, ribbon
Add: Paint details, glitter, beads, sequins, dangly-pieces to any of the above

      Hope this helps!
