how to use up fabric scraps

One of the questions I am asked most often about my quilted ornament patterns is:

“I have tons of scraps and fat quarters left over from my bigger quilting projects. Are these pieces big enough to make quilted ornament projects from?”

The answer is, absolutely. In fact, quilted ornaments are a perfect way to use up your fabric scraps.

Each ornament takes less than a quarter yard of fabric. And, not only that, your fabric will be cut into small rectangles, and then layered onto the ornament, so you’ll be able to use up your smallest of scraps.

It’s such an awesome way to make sure all those little pieces of fabric don’t go to waste…whether you make an ornament using only a couple of different fabrics, like this:

Or, whether you make a “scrappy” style ornament, with all sorts of different fabric pieces, like one of my customers, Terri, did here (how cute is this?):

The best part of an ornament like this? It is completely unique. No two will ever look alike.

Here are some quilted Easter Eggs, which I made from fat quarters:

If you’ve never made these before, you can see all of the different patterns I’ve got available right HERE. Just be careful…they are addicting! :)

I have been making Christmas ornaments for over 50 years. I started as a new bride in 1957 and made 1 each year for 40 years. My husband died after our 42nd anniversary. I haven’t made any since but would like to make a few more while I can still see and move. Just turned 80 in July.
