I’ve had some really fantastic feedback on my quilted ornament pattern. In fact, those who have purchased it have been so excited about making their own ornaments, that I’ve been inspired to get busy working on adding more ornament tutorials to my shop.

I just finished a new one that I’ve been working on for the last several days. This tutorial will teach you how to make “Moonlight”, an ornament that I designed several months ago and one that I am just in love with. The tutorial includes more than 40 close-up photos and step by step instructions. (These ornaments would make awesome Christmas gifts!) You can find the PDF tutorial in my shop. (The pattern is FREE right HERE.)

If you are interested in making this ornament with the exact materials I’ve used in the tutorial, I also have a kit available in my ornament shop, which includes the completely prepped styrofoam ball, pre-cut satin fabric and trim, pins, and embellishments (Swarovski crystal rhinestones, seed beads, and crystal beads).

If you have any questions or comments at all about this tutorial, please feel free to post them below, and as always, I will be more than happy to help!

I would like to use one of your pictures on my blog to represent ornaments that were made for my family growing up. I would provide a link to your blog and give you credit if it is o.k. with you. :) The blog entry is about making simple gifts for family and friends. Obviously your blog is a treasure trove of information on the subject. My blog is at http://www.fridaynightfamily.com Thanks

Made this ornament and it is beautiful. I am at the point of gluing on the small rhinestones. Did you put glue on ornament first or did you dab the back of rhinestone with glue before applying?

DeAnna, I’m thrilled to hear that!

I put the glue on the back of the rhinestone. That made it a little bit easier for me, and it kept me from accidentally using too much. If you use too much on the back of the rhinestone, you can just wipe it off. If you use too much directly on the fabric, it can mess it up..

Thank you for your tutorial. Do you put the glue on the head of the pins or the tip?
If the head, is the glue applied before or after you insert the pin?

Whenever I use glue, I did the tip of the pin in it, just before pushing it into the ornament. Just be careful not to use too much, especially with a delicate or satiny fabric like the one in this ornament, or you may end up with a “stain” on your fabric from it.

I have never made any ornaments but interested in learning. I’m not a creative person, but like to work on small craft items. I have just finished 2 yo yo runners for a friend making over 300 yo yo’s.. whewy! It was fun though.
Now I’m interested in the ornaments. hope I can do them as they look beautiful. I’m not real computer savvy, but hope I can manage with your website.
